Music Masters of Hamburg
In the footsteps of famous composers

This tour is perfect for music lovers and first time visitors as well. During a highlight walking tour you will explore and hear stories and music of composers who lived and worked in Hamburg. If you book the tour in the morning (except Saturdays) one of the highlights will be a visit of St.Michaels Church to hear a short organ recital during a lunch service.

A tour molto vivace:
  • Start at the City Hall and the grave of Baroque Master Telemann
  • Walk along the Jungfernstieg (Young Maidens Avenue) with stories and music of Gustav Mahler
  • The Alster Pavilion has always been a favorite spot for music (Swing Kids)
  • Pass the site of the first citizens opera North of the Alps
  • Just around the corner is our modern Opera House
  • Just a short walk to the birthplace of Johannes Brahms and some of the remains of old Hamburg
  • Our Laeiszhalle (Music Hall) is an architectural gem
  • Pass the memorial for Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and the church where Gustav Mahler was baptized
  • Visit St.Michael's church where Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (the Hamburg Bach) worked
  • At 12noon you can attend a lunch prayer (in German) to hear the mighty church organs
  • If you like you can visit the Composers Quarter with a small but very nice museum about the composers.
